About the Performer

Sean Etigson is a performer and teacher who delights in singing and telling stories to people of all ages. Over the past 17 years, he has performed for and led groups across the United States, inspiring audiences with his wit and energy.

A friendly, thoughtful troublemaker, Sean has been writing freshed brewed acoustic grooves since he was 13 years old. Raised in a family was a much part of the shower experience as soap or shampoo, Sean loves to belt out tunes-with or without an audience present. His warm vocals and intelligently layered lyrics cavort with his good humor to create catchy, meaningful songs. A lifelong acoustic guitarist, he admires the work of Alex de Grassi, Willy Porter, and Ben Harper. After many years of trying (unsuccesfuly) to play like someone else, he has slowly come to appreciate the modest magic that happens when his fingers mingle with wood and steel. His first album, Where the Mountain Meets the Sea, was praised for his inspired storytelling, innovative use of acoustic guitar, and graceful production. On his second album, Open Heart, Open Road, Sean worked with a band for the first time, and audiences enjoyed the funky rythms and layered sound. Blending folk, rock, funk, blues, and jazz, Sean performs at a variety of venues across the country both solo and with his band, Full Circle.

In his secret identity, Sean teaches music and drama at Cottonwood School in Corrales, NM. In the Spring of 2003. he worked with the 4th and 5th graders at Cottonwood to write and record, Walk in My Shoes, and album full of multi-cultural grooves and uplifting messages for preschool and elementary students. Over the past few years, Sean has been performing with his students in public libraries, bookstores, children's fairs, and the radio.

In 2003, after directing other camps and programs for many years, Sean started Full Circle Summer Camp, a well-rounded overnight experience design to cultivate creativity, health, and communty for 7-14 year olds.

In May of 2004, Sean was honored with the Elena Maes Memorial Award in recognition of his good work with young people and in support of the New Mexico musical community.
